Weeks after Amy Winehouse’s passing, we’ve seen several celebrity tributes, the most recent from Coldplay.
Last night, the band performed a benefit concert for the Grammy Foundation’s Grammy in the Schools program at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin took the lead using the hook from Winehouse’s memorable “rehab” to start off a three song encore set.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
The Winehouse moment preceded Coldplay’s hit “Fix You,” an appropriate preamble considering frontman Martin sings of the pain of losing a loved one and emotional wounds that feel impossible to heal. The song was originally written for his wife Gwyneth Paltrow after the death of her father Bruce in 2002.
