While checking out the film blog, Shadow & Act I came upon a new documentary that examines Black women in the civil rights movement. Entitled Reflections Unheard, the film “focuses on the marginalization of black women between the Black Power and Feminist ideologies of the 60s and 70s, up to the present.”

Featuring file footage from those turbulent times and commentary from several Black women, the film exposes how Black women have had to continuously decide between our race and our gender.

Currently unfinished, this film is bound to spark very intense conversations around race, gender, and how we define ourselves.
