According to the Highway Loss Data Institute, Escalade owners are still most likely to see their vehicle jacked.  These are the results of the institutes’ list of the top ten vehicles with the highest theft claims.  The Escalade tops the list as it has in years past.  On 2008’s list, four different versions of the vehicle managed to find their way on.  Things got slightly better in 2009, when Cadillac required that all models come equipped with immobilizers.

According to HLDI Senior Vice President Kim Hazelbaker, the reason why Escalades have such high claims is not because thieves find them easier to break into and take.

“A pickup that can’t be driven away is still vulnerable to having tools and cargo snatched from its bed.”

Still the Escalade is not the only truck or luxury vehicle that thieves love to find.  The Chrysler 300 had one of the highest rates of theft in its category of passenger cars.  And if you’re looking for a vehicle that thieves will pass on by?  Invest in a Mini Cooper Clubman- they’re average theft loss is $1 per year.
