A video of a Texas judge beating his 16-year-old daughter has theinternet in a frenzy. The video is six years old, but for some reason the judges’ daughter, Hilary Adams, felt the need to broadcast the abusive video now.

Adams father, Aransas County, Texas, Court-At-Law Judge William Adams, was beating and cursing at his daughter for pirating videos and music off of the internet. It sparked a rage amongst viewers and the judge has been relieved of his duties while the tape is being investigated.

“Just a sad day. It’s unfortunate for all the people in that video. It doesn’t bode well for the image of our community or our judiciary or our legal community in Aransas County,” said Aransas County Attorney Richard Bianchi.

The daughter tells CNN she decided to release the video after receiving a “barrage of harassment” on the phone from her father (rolls eyes).

The daughter tweeted to CNN,

“I’m not sure how much I should say, except that above all we need to help my father instead of condemning him.”

Another reason for the uproar is due to that fact that Hilary Adams was born with ataxic cerebral palsy.

Honestly, I think the question here is when do you draw the line between discipline and abuse? Some people will look at the video and dismiss it as just a spanking. Should it be put in the same degree as parents who punch their children or beat them to the point that they have to be put in the hospital?

There are so many complaints today by parents that they can’t lay a hand on their children because even a pinch is called abuse. In cases like this where children video tape their parents beating/abusing/discipling them, it leaves the question hanging on if it is ever ok to put your hands on your child?

So where do we draw the line between discipline and abuse? Check out the video of the beating below:

Did this father go to far? Also, do you think his daughter really released the video to help him or as a form of revenge?

Talk about it!

I was never beaten by mum or dad or any other family members and I turned out alright (I think)!
The notion of having to inflict pain on a children to teach them a lesson doesn’t sit right with me.

She should have turned over to begin with and the mom should have handled the punishment once it was established that it would be handled with a spanking. I think the judge was out of his mind with anger and no one should discipline anyone while being that angry. I can see why she put the video up. She’s 16 and at a point in her life where she shouldn’t be beaten anymore, grounding and supervision of computer use would have been enough, even taking the computer out of her room. Having a medical condition and having a frustrated parent is a recipe for disaster. But I don’t see anything wrong with discipline.
