Rapper, actress and singer Queen Latifah will be bringing her talents to a new syndicated talk show in 2013, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Latifah’s Flava Unit teamed up with Will Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment company in order to bring this project to frutition through Siny Pictures Television.
This is the second time Latifah will host her own show. The first time was in 1999 when her show, “The Queen Latifah” show ran for two seasons. It was praised for showcasing urban artists who didn’t receive much mainstream attention.
Flavor Unit co-founder Shakim Compere and Overbrook’s Miguel Melendez are responsible for this collaboration.
“We share a common vision and have been wanting to collaborate for quite some time,” said Compere. Added Melendez, “We have known and admired Latifah for over 20 years: dating back to our music days, to her first television role on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and years alter when she worked with Jada on the film Set it Off.”
Latifah has a long resume of movies, television show, music albums, spokesperson and producer. This will be a nice addition to her already impressive repertoire.
