Superstar songwriter Sean Garrett recently spoke to Rap-Up.com regarding the epic duet between Mary J. Blige and Beyonce. The two teamed up on the song ‘Love A Woman’ which will appear on Mary J’s upcoming album, My Life II…The Journey Continues.
Initially, Garrett said he wrote the song for Beyonce, but later thought adding MJB was a good move.
He told Rap-up: “I initially did the record for Beyoncé and then we just felt it would be an even bigger record with Beyoncé and Mary J. Blige. Both these women are two iconic female figures in the world, and what would be better than putting those two on a record? We felt it would be a really iconic move.”
Garret, who has penned hits for everyone from Usher and Ciara, to Whitney Houston and Beyonce said that listeners will appreciate “Love A Woman’s” throwback sound.
He explained: “We did a throwback ’90s type of feel with the track. We wanted to give people who grew up with Mary and Beyoncé that real feel that they could reminisce on.”
