Over a month after rapper and actor Heavy D passed away, the Los Angeles County Corner’s Office has finally released his official cause of death.

After collapsing on November 9, Heavy D–born Dwight Myers–was rushed to the hospital where he apparently died from a pulmonary embolism, or in layman’s terms, a blood clot in his chest. According to the coroner’s office, Mysers also suffered from deep leg vein thrombosis and heart disease, which could have also contributed to his death.

County officials said the blood clot was “most likely formed during an extended airplane ride.” Just days before his death, Heavy D returned from Wales after performing at a Michael Jackson Memorial concert.

Initial reports claimed he died of pneumonia, but county coroner officials later ruled that out.

blood clots are usually formed from inactivity i.e long plane rides or car rides. the muscles in your body ( predominately your legs) helps your veins with blood return back to the heart. When you are stationary for a long period of time (sitting) the blood clots can form in your legs and travel to your heart where if not caught in a timely matter can become life threatening. Some ppl are also with this clotting problem.
