“Worry never accomplishes anything. When you have a problem, it is best to concentrate on the solution to that problem, not the problem itself.” – Thomas D. Willhite
The other day I had a serious WTF moment.
Sallie Mae had just called and harassed asked me to make a payment, I needed to fill up my gas tank to run some errands (and it’s already over $4.20/gallon here), and the first of the month just seemed so far away. In that moment I wondered if I had made the right choice all those months ago to quit my stable teaching job to pursue my passion. Was writing really worth it?
Although I may not have as much disposable income as before, I’m far from struggling (ok, not that far). I have a roof over my head, I’m not missing any meals, and my son has everything he needs. And most importantly, I’m happy.
Although worrying about how we’re going to make it is natural, stressing about the journey to your goals never got you any closer. While it’s ok to have a WTF moment from time to time, don’t wallow in it. Have your moment, pull yourself together, brainstorm some solutions, and keep pushing toward your goals.
