It’s been two years since British fashion company Burberry launched its beauty line. The small, but efficient collection features everything a woman needs for a day-to-day face, from lipsticks and liners, shadows and mascara, to a great foundation and powder. But, as you can probably guess, there were no shades for, well…”us”. *sighs* Here we go again…

61911831-298x457When the line initially debuted at Nordstrom, designer Christopher Bailey promised that darker shades of their amazing liquid and powder foundations would soon be on the way. Finally, for Spring 2012, the extended color range is available with one of our favorites, Jourdan Dunn, as the face of the campaign. Go, Burberry! New shades – Trench 10, Trench 11, Trench 12, and Trench 13 (so obviously named after the brand’s iconic trench coat) – are now available in both the Sheer Luminous Fluid foundation and the Sheer Luminous Compact foundation powder. They’ve also added Amber No. 5 to their assortment of Sheer Luminous Concealer, though we did find that four even deeper shades are being offered overseas. We’ll wait…

Nevertheless, we’re excited about the extension of the line and hope that it will prompt even more luxury cosmetics brands to dig “deeper”. Women of color continue to be major players when it comes to spending in the hair and beauty industries, so it’s such a shame that we often go without representation at some of the most prestigious makeup counters.
