TV’s it girl Shonda Rhimes is gearing up for the debut of her latest drama, Scandal, which premires April 5 on ABC.

The show, which stars Kerry Washington and Columbus Short, is about a D.C. political crisis management expert who handles potentially explosive (and embarrassing) cases for many of the city’s elite.

Scandal is based on the real-life exploits of Judy Smith, one of D.C.’s biggest power players. Smith worked as a White House aid to President George H. W. Bush, and served as counsel to Michael Vick, Monica Lewinsky, and former D.C. mayor Mayor Marion Barry.

Scandal is Rhimes’ third series for ABC and will begin airing April 5 at 10 pm.

“I’m not a baby lawyer. I’m a gladiator in a suit.” WTF. This is some of the most pretentious dialogue I’ve ever seen, even if they did make fun of it later. And when the bloodied guy walks in at the end and the black male associate (Columbus Short) immediately takes out his camera phone all serious looking, snaps a picture and says, “Welcome to Olivia Pope and Associates.” I can’t. Don’t even know how I got through the full 7 mins. I’ll pass. Despised Grey’s Anatomy (no matter how hard I try to support black folks in the industry) and could never understand the hype. And this looks like it’ll be more of the same. ABC seems incapable of making shows worth watching, imo.

C’mon, Bee. It’s tough sometimes but the suits in the Exec ofcs want us to fail. It supports their narrow view that America doesn’t want diverse leads, just supporting roles for POC. Please give it a try. I’ve got a series that’s in pre production, if this is seen as a Shonda failure it reflects on me & every person that’s trying to break that ceiling. Seriously. & not only behind the camera. Thanks.
