“The truth is you can acquire any quality you want by acting as though you already have it.” -Joseph Murphy
You know the phrase, “Fake it till you make it?” While it can sometimes result in some very negative result (i.e. getting yourself into debt because you’re trying to stunt on folks), it can also prove to be a great motivational tool.
Many of us struggle to be more confident, to be more focused, to stop procrastinating. Getting over our challenges takes time, but if we act like we’ve already done so, we’ll end up developing the habits and traits we want. For instance, if you’re shy and want to be more outgoing, the next time you’re out play a little game with yourself. Tell yourself you’re going to speak to everyone you see–just a quick hello, and keep it moving. While I’m sure some people won’t respond, others will. So not only are you practicing being more social, but you might just make new friends or business contacts in the process.
Whatever your goal is….act as if you already have it.
