Late Tuesday night, just a day after the TMZ uncovered statutory rape allegations against Kevin Clash, his unnamed accuser recanted his story. Andreozzi & Associates, a law firm that said it represented the anonymous accuser, said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon that “he wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.” The statement added, “He will have no further comment on the matter.”

Through his own representative, Kevin Clash stated: “I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further.”

After the news hit, Clash took a leave of absence from Sesame Street to take care of his situation. Of course Clash was the butt of plenty of homophobic jokes, and for two days, “Elmo” was a trending topic on Twitter. Although Sesame Street did not give any indication whether or not Clash’s leave would end, they did release a statement: “We are pleased that this matter has been brought to a close, and we are happy that Kevin can move on from this unfortunate episode”.

Was this an issue of a scorned lover, or could there have possibly been merit to the allegations? Either way, this “scandal” will forever mar Kevin Clash’s reputation.

I was so relieved to hear this. I did not believe this accuser. Kevin Clash seems like an honest guy. I really liked how he handled this situation. He immediately fessed up to having a relationship, which, in my eyes, gave him major credibility.

Reports stated that lawyers from both sides were meeting to hash out a 6 figure settlement shortly before this story came out. Seems funny…..strange how money makes “things” disappear.

Nonetheless, damage is done to both Clash, Elmo & Sesame Street. Even if Clash’s statement is true (they didn’t have a relationship until the guy was of age), it’s still kinda gross. May be legal, but it don’t make it palatable. Just my own two cents.

Ok…I believe that this many paid off his accuser. And even he didn’t hhave sex with the kid till he was 18, “Elmo” is still a pedo for having any kind of relationship with an underage kid. Wyhy would a gorwn-a$$ individiual even be talking to a child, if not to cultivate them for sex?! Pervert! I have a brother who is 16 and a sister who is 14 and if I caught an adult trying to so much as hold their hands, I would have to go to jail.

Furthermore, I’m really upset at the number of people who jumped all over the story with “the accuser is lying”. First, Clash admitted to talking to an underage child, which is nasty anyway, so I would be inclined to believe he did more than just talk. And hardly anybody had anything to say to that confession. He deserves all he got and more, for that alone.
