KandiReal Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss is preparing to say “I do” to production manager Todd Tucker, but before they take their trip down the isle, the former Xscape member says they will be singing a prenup first.

In the latest entry on her Bravo Blog, Kandi shared her excitement for her wedding and explained why a prenuptial agreement is mandatory for her new union.

“I do believe in pre-nups,” she wrote. “I know that some people feel if you are truly in love and are planning to be dedicated to your marriage that a pre-nup somehow means the person requesting the pre-nup is expecting the marriage to fail. I don’t agree.”

She described her and Todd’s pre-nup as a safety precaution. “Just like if you have a fire extinguisher in your home it doesn’t mean you expect it to burn down, but you’re just prepared to put out the fire before it starts if need be,” she said.

“I feel like people do some crazy and vindictive things when they’re hurt, so I think there should be agreements set in place while everyone is thinking clearly. That way if D-day ever comes (and hopefully it won’t, but if it does), then it doesn’t have to get uglier and more hurtful than it already is,” she explained.

Kandi went on the say that she was surprised to find out fellow RHOA stars Porsha and Kordell Stewart did not sign a pre-nup. “I hope Porsha and Kordell’s marriage lasts for a lifetime, but I will say that I was shocked when she told me that they didn’t do a pre-nup. I don’t know why I was shocked, but I was,” she said. “Some people like things the good ol’ fashion way, and there’s nothing wrong with that. To each his own!”

What do you think of Kandi’s confession? Is a pre-nup always the right way to go?

This Diva is soooo under rated. Her erotic toys have redefined how women pleasure themselves…and others. I hope to read an article about her business very soon.

Kandi irks on the show, but I love and respect her being financially saavy. She is probably the most “comfortable” financially on the show but does not feel the need to prove it. Which is how she maintains her paper… She can teach the rest of the cast a thing or two

Wow – so when women doing its being “financially savy” but when men do it – our love for the woman comes into question.

Prenups are not always held up in court – perhaps she might find out that the hard way – Men have already found that out.

ehh I’m not really a prenup fan in general, but I understand them. My comments on her were more in line with her actions based on the show, that aren’t related to a prenup agreement. She has proven to be fiscally responsible all around. Not always in other aspects of her life.
