kelly-rowland-without-makeup-2

It’s tempting for some women to hide behind the transformative powers of makeup like concealer and foundation. But when it’s time to go makeup free like Kelly Rowland did this week, you can look just as beautiful without the aid of cosmetics.

Bare-faced beauty is about achieving healthy skin and taking care of your body from the inside out. Here are some helpful tips to preserve your natural pretty:

1. Never fall asleep with makeup on.

Your skin needs time to breathe and a caked face of makeup overnight does exactly the opposite. It’s important to remove makeup before you go to bed, especially around the eyes. If you’re too lazy (we’re all guilty!), use makeup remover towelettes.

2. Use a face scrub and face masque once a week.

Oil of Olay has a fab skin-renewing scrub that’s gentle enough for daily use. Or Clarisonic Opal Infusion System. June Jacobs Pumpkin Masque is equally amazing.

Queen Helene’s Mint Julep Masque. I’ve tried the fancy smancy brands and all I end up with is a receipt and a half-full bottle/jar of useless face product that I throw away. QH is the TRUTH!!!!

I agree. I used that stuff back in the 90’s and I loved it then, too.

Kelly looks better than usual in this picture because she’s not wearing 10 lbs of 3 feet long yaki. All of that weave is a drag on her beauty.

She really does look a lot more beautiful without all the extra stuff

Exercise, nutrition, lots of water and the acne/oil defense system by Treasured Locks. African American owned; been using their products since 2008 and that is all I will EVER use. :)

I will be the first to admit that I am blessed with good genes. My grandmother is in her 90’s and barely has wrinkles. My mother’s skin was smooth and wrinkle-free. The only makeup I wear regularly is lipstick (would not be caught without it). I may have worn full-makeup 10 times in my life. For my beauty maintenance routine, I drink LOTS of water, eat fruit and veggies, and try to get 8 hours of sleep nightly. For daily skin care, I use Oil of Olay facial cleanser, followed by the toner and beauty fluid to moisturize. I’ve been using Oil of Olay since my 20’s and even when I try something new, I always end up coming back to it.

    • …and most people of color are blessed with good genes, unless you are not then I can understand the comment. Especially with your grandma being in her 90’s and barely any wrinkles, that would be something to see.

  • My goodness, Kelly looks so gorgeous here.
