beyonce-cuba

The fallout from Jay-Z and Beyonce’s anniversary trip to Cuba spurred the rapper to write a song and the President to make a timely joke at the White House Correspondents Dinner, but the pop star has remained mum on the incident. She broke her silence today on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” revealing that she was blindsided by the onslaught of criticism:

“You know, it was such a beautiful trip. I met some incredible children. I visited some incredible entrepreneurs. I learned so much about so many people and the country and [all of the criticism] was actually quite shocking.”

Some people are speculating that Beyonce found the criticism of the trip shocking because she’s ignorant to the U.S.’s relationship to Cuba and politics, in general. I believe the singer felt the positive aspects of the trip (her meeting “incredible children [and] enterpreneurs”) didn’t warrant such a negative response from critics.

What do you think of Beyonce’s assertions, Clutchettes?

Millionaires just don’t understand. They forget that there are still rules to follow even when you are married to a rap mogul. Real world paging Beyonce!

She followed the rules everyone else does who goes there..applied for a visa and it was granted.

I honestly think Beyonce didn’t know there was a trade embargo against Cuba. This was just another trip for her. That women made zero percent of the arrangements for that trip.
