Ludacris & DaughterFather’s Day is approaching and People Magazine is celebrating men in entertainment, sports and politics that embrace their parental responsibilities. Rapper-turned-actor Ludacris is spotlighted in the issue for his fathering skills. The “Fast and Furious 6″ star revels in his role as father to 11-year-old Karma.

The 35-year-old Atlanta-based MC has developed an amazing bond with his daughter. He recently spoke with Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show about Karma’s sudden interest in boys and how he discusses music with her.

When asked if he’s an overprotective father, Ludacris responded:

“It’s bad because I’m extremely protective, and she just told me that she thought a boy at school was ‘cool.’ I said, ‘Well, what makes him cool?’ She said, ‘You know, he’s nice.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh God…I need his address, name, social security number, everything. Yeah, very overprotective.”

He also told DeGeneres his daughter listens to the hip-hop, but he purchases her clean CDs.

There’s little doubt Ludacris has raised a remarkable child. Karma partnered with her dad to Karma’s World, an interactive website that promotes education through music and games. It is targeted toward students in grades one through six.

People Magazine’s “Father’s Day” issue hits newsstands June 17.

i’m conflicted about this. On the one hand it’s hard to separate Ludacris from from LEWD-acris – same goes for Jay-Z. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth that they can so easily disrespect other people’s daughters but yet shelter and protect their own. It reaks of a sort of elitistism – “I can use other human beings however I want, but my own family is above all this.” I only hope their turn-around inspires other younger men to get involved in their family lives early and say no to the objectification of women. In the end, I guess, I have to step off my judgmental high horse and tell myself that everyone is deserving of second, third, fourth, fifth (and so on) chances.
