It’s a sad truth but social media is shedding a light on how catty people can be to each other in the music industry. Rihanna and Teyana Taylor are the latest to engage in a silly back-and-forth argument for all their followers to see, and we can’t figure out why they participated it in the first place, except maybe to make themselves look bad.

According to Necole Bitchie, it started when Rihanna posted a parody of Teyana Taylor’s Instagram video singing Anita Baker’s “Caught Up in the Rapture.” In case anyone wasn’t sure Rihanna was poking fun at Teyana Taylor, the pop star’s male hairstylist, Yusef, donned a curly wig and a baseball cap for the clip.

When Teyana Taylor got wind of it, she started tweeting angry remarks toward Rihanna:

Don’t play wit me rihanna f-ck all this industry sh-t, YOU & I know each other VERY well. Throwing subs 4 wat? u got my #, don’t show off.

y’all could bully everybody else & get away wit that sh-t but that sh-t ain’t gone work ova here. so y’all could miss me with that NAVY sh-t

i sing caught in the rapture on IG then she posts her boy singing the same song, the same part, with curly hair and a snap back???

petty is petty and shade is shade, b-tch knew what the f-ck she was doing.

Though Rihanna posted that she wasn’t going to mention Teyana’s handle and “make her famous,” her best friend, Melissa Forde, shared some choice words about Teyana on her Twitter page:

@TEYANATAYLOR #b-tchugotabetterchanceseeinME #tourdatesareavailableonline #catchMifucan

And finally, Rihanna changed her Twitter background to show a collage of a screengrab about both artists’ net worth: hers is reportedly 90 million while Teyana’s is $500K:

Still following?

Teyana responded by tweeting that Rih’s body count and her net worth are neck-in-neck with the hashtag #IndustryP—y. And she changed her own background to a photoshopped image of her in boxing gear next to a picture of Rihanna’s battered face from the 2009 domestic violence incident with Chris Brown.

Anyone else getting high school flashbacks?

Teyana “explained” the conflict on Hot 97 earlier and ended up confusing us even more:

Their silly ‘beef’ reveals that they both have too much time on their hands and not enough maturity and dignity. Hopefully, they’ll grow up and realize that when you engage in ugly battles on social media, you both lose.

What do you think of their feud, Clutchettes and Gents?

    Rihanna reminds me of one of those girls you went to school with that always talked so much trash but ended up finally getting her a#! beat. Not wishing any violence but you get what you put out in this world. She’s burning bridges left and right…you can’t stay at the top forever. The industry she thinks is so in love with her now could chew her up and spit her out overnight.

    I really used to admire RIhanna’s resilience for maintaining her career and popularity even after her domestic bought with Chris Brown. But now I see she’s just a bully and her personality sucks.

      Makes me also wonder how true the story’s were that she was also an agitator of aggression in her in CB’s relationship. Not that it gives reason or absolves him of what he did at all, not going there. However you wonder if she is this volatile over simple ish with people who dont matter on twitter, how is she with people she actually has relationships with when she has disagreements? Seems like you would have to be the type to always agree and always put her up on a pedestal to stay in her good graces.
