You know we love a good web series here at Clutch. As a matter of fact, we were one of the first to introduce audiences to Issa Rae’s hilarious show, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, and when Brothers With No Game transformed their blog into a show, we shared it with you as well. Despite the success of both productions—and the fact that both Rae and the BWNG crew have found a home on the tele—network TV continues to drop the ball when it comes to producing a plethora of shows that include people who look like us.

Because of this, we’re always keeping our eyes and ears open for dope web series we can share with you, and we’ve found 5 that are worth adding to your YouTube “must watch” list.

Dear Jesus

Although Dear Jesus premiered in 2012, season three will drop on March 17. The show, written and produced by Danielle A. Scott-Haughton, “follows Mercedes, a young fashion journalist whose life is thrown into disarray and finds solace in her prayers which she writes down in her laptop.” Get caught up before the new season begins.

Issa Rae puts on her producer hat for this new series, which is billed as “a modern day ‘Love Jones.’” Created by Jamela Biggs, First follows childhood friends Robin and Charles as they reconnect and fall in love “one first at a time.” First premiers this spring, so like their Facebook page to stay up to date.
