Vanity Fair’s 20th annual Hollywood issue has some of Hollywood’s brightest stars. The three-fold panel, shot by Annie Leibovitz, features Oscar nominees Julia Roberts (August: Osage County), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club), and Lupita Nyong’o (12 Years a Slave), as well as Idris Elba (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), George Clooney (Gravity), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Naomie Harris (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom), Brie Larson (Short Term 12), Chadwick Boseman (42), Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street), and Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Color).

Let’s take a second to look at Lupita, standing there like an award!

The March issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands in New York City and Los Angeles on February 7. The magazine will be on national newsstands and available in an audio edition on February 11.

I am offended at the suggestion that Lupita is only being accepted because she is not American and “exotic”. No, she is being accepted because people are exhausted by the lies. Blonde, blue-eyed or biracial light is not better than dark with short natural. She is the right woman at the right time and she has all the creds: smart, beautiful, talented, in a great movie and she just happens to be African. Do not take this away from her, it is her moment. Where was the outcry when Halle and Beyoncé were being touted as the most beautiful black women? Why was this question not asked then? Would Beyoncé be the most beautiful woman according to People if she was not American, light skinned with blonde, long flowing hair? Why not ask that question. Lupita is just undeniable. No matter how racist you are, you cannot avoid her presence. This shocks white people and even black people apparently. Anybody come for my girl, I come for you right back. Finally, young black girls have a smart woman they can look up to and say hey, I guess I am beautiful too. I don’t care if Lupita was from Antartica, she’d still be the fiercest woman in the room. Period.
