How did you launch your career and get to where you are today?
I was always very independent, and I always wanted to be a doctor. One day, a recruiter came to my school, and talked to us about dental school. He told me that I could be a dentist, and still have the family that I wanted, make money, and have a flexible schedule. I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do, and I went for it.

What have you had to sacrifice along the way, if anything?
Time and money. You always have to give up something to get something. I lost money and time making mistakes along the way.

How do you define success?
Success is defined by having what YOU want in life. Success isn’t limited to money. Whether it’d your relationship, your business, your health, your marriage, having a relationship with God…if you’re doing what you want to do, if you’ve set goals and achieved them, that’s success, in my opinion.

How do you balance work and life?
People ask me that all the time, and there is no such thing as balance. Know your priorities. For me, it’s God, Family, Work. I’m home when kids get home from school, and I turn my phone off. After 5, it’s family time. Simple as that.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years, I see myself having my own syndicated radio show/TV talk show. But I am absolutely living the life of my dreams right now. I won’t be retiring any time soon, and I’ll be doing a lot of traveling.

Who is your role model or mentor?
My mother. She taught me early that success does not come easy. You have to make sacrifices. She taught me to always have my own, and to work hard for it. Even though I have a great husband, who provides, I want to have my own. That’s important to me.

What advice do you give your fellow entrepreneurs?
You’re going to make mistakes. Embrace failure. Keep going…never stop. You won’t always be accepted by others…when you’re having success, some people will turn their back on you. I always think of Dora from Finding Nemo…keep on swimming…nothing is that bad. As long you have God.

What are you currently working on now?
Married to Medicine: What makes our show awesome and unique is that I’ve never seen a reality show with over half the cast having doctorate degrees, and the entire cast having degrees. We’re showing family. husbands, wives, children. We’re showing that people are people, no matter where they come from, or what they do. With all of our success, we still have real issues.

I’d like to say kudos to the doctor! Some of these comments seem to be from people who are a little closed-minded…and well…a little haterish. She has accomplished A LOT. And she will continue to do so with or without anyone’s approval. Let’s be clear, reality TV is ENTERTAINMENT. When people understand that, I think the judgey attitudes will come to an end. And everyone making these negative comments haven’t even seen her on the show yet. How do you know how she’ll act on the show, or what message she will send. She can actually serve as an inspiration to young Black women.

Thanks for that comment, but I have seen trailers for the new season of Married to Medicine and she comes off as ratchet to say the least. Now, I’m not saying this is hateration, but the statistics show that at least half of reality tv stars relationships end in divorce. As I have stated before, kudos to her and you and yours. Good day Mate!!
