Stacey Dash became a Conservative darling after tweeting her support for Mitt Romney ahead of the 2012 elections, declaring the candidate was the “only choice for your future.” After being roundly (and unfairly) criticized for her political leanings, Dash found herself enjoying the spotlight of a whole new group of admirers: Republicans.
Though I doubt most Fox News viewers knew who Dash was before she appeared on the network in 2012 lamenting how she had been called an “Uncle Tom” for not supporting President Obama, she’s made several appearances since. And apparently, the former Mo’ Money star left quite an impression.
Fox News’ Executive Vice President of Programming Bill Shine announced Wednesday Dash would be joining the network as a paid contributor.
“Stacey is an engaging conversationalist whose distinctive viewpoints amongst her Hollywood peers have spawned national debates,” he said in a statement. “We’re pleased to have her join FOX News.”
Despite her lack of political or journalistic bona fides, Dash will apparently appear on the network to “offer cultural analysis and commentary across FOX News’ daytime and primetime programs.”
Dash spoke with Elle about her new gig and all of the attention she’s received since sending the Romney-endorsing tweet.
“There’s just so many opportunities right now,” she said. “Twenty years after Clueless I’m starting all over. All because of a tweet! It’s God. I truly believe it’s God.”
While Fox New hopes Dash will be yet another outspoken voice against the president and his fellow Democrats, here are 5 quotes from her best-known role as Dionne in Clueless that really sealed the deal and landed the actress back on TV.
#1 She will stand up for women’s rights and prove Republicans aren’t waging a war on women
Murray: Woman, lend me five dollas.
Dionne: Murray, I have asked you repeatedly not to call me “woman”.
Murray: Excuse me, “Miss Dionne.”
Dionne: Thank you.
#2 She knows when to hold back
#3 She believes in family values
Dionne: [about Murray shaving his head] Why do you care what he thinks, Murray? I’m the one who has to look at you! What am I gonna do with you now? And right before the yearbook pictures? What am I gonna tell my grandchildren? You know what? That’s it…
Murray: That’s it!
Dionne: You wanna play games?
Murray: You wanna play games?
Dionne: I’m calling your mother!
#4 She’s politically correct.
#5 She’s not afraid to tell it like it is.
Amber: Ms. Stoeger, my plastic surgeon doesn’t want me doing any activity where balls fly at my nose.
Dionne: Well, there goes your social life.
