Congrats are in order to the phenomenal Jill Scott, who will receive an honorary doctorate from her alma mater Temple University tomorrow.
The singer/actress is being honored for her charitable contributions in the art and music field in her hometown of Philadelphia.
In addition to her music and acting career, Scott is also the founder of the Blues Babe Foundation. The foundation, which is named after Jill’s grandmother helps underserved students in the Delaware Valley with their postsecondary educational goals through financial assistance and mentorship.
Temple University President Neil D. Theobald said Scott’s “values and achievements embody the mission and ideas of the university.”
Jill will receive the honor of Doctor of Humane Letters from the University. The ceremony will be tomorrow during the commencement ceremony at the Liacouras Center on Temple’s Main Campus.
