It’s a day that ends in “y”, and the NYPD has placed yet another person in an illegal chokehold. NYPD visited an East New York apartment building over the weekend because Rosan Miller, 27, was grilling on a sidewalk, which is a violation of the local law.  Allegedly, a fight broke out that ended with Miller, her brother and husband being arrested.

People Organizing and Working for Empowerment, an advocacy group, released the photos of the arrest, and you can clearly see that Miller, who is also pregnant, was placed in the banned chokehold.  You can also see Miller’s daughter watching the arrest happen.

According to the NY Daily News, the brother, John Miller, was charged with harassment and obstruction of justice. Her husband, Moses Miller, 34, was charged with resisting arrest and obstruction. Rosan Miller got a summons for disorderly conduct.

Di Blasio needs to do the job he was elected to do.

    • Exactly.

It takes time to clean this type of corruption up. This stuff runs deep. He would basically have to clean house throughout the city departments.

This is a damn shame. I usually don’t say this but they seriously need to worry about finding real criminals and crimes to prevent. I know police officers have discretion on what they report but someone grilling on the sidewalk wouldn’t be my top priority when on duty. This is really getting ridiculous and this is coming from someone who is hoping to enter the criminal justice/law profession soon. A lot of this roughhousing and manhandling has to do with how the police in general view the black population and the criminal justice system needs to be honest about that fact! There needs to be more than just retraining for some of these “good guys”. Personally, I never understood how you could go into policing or any civil servant job without knowing how to deal with all kinds of individuals.

  • This is getting ridiculous. They need to have NYPD investigated by the justice department. This is getting ridiculous. When are chokeholds ever necessary when someone is pregnant?

Is it just me or does it seem like no place is a safe place for us?

I don’t understand how the NYPD is allowed to continue to run with all of these examples of civil rights violations. Where is the Justice Department and investigations? The National Guard to protect the people from the police? Someone has to step up and say enough is enough, we are cleaning house and taking over. The taxpayers need to step up too. The amount of money the NYPD spends on lawsuits is tax dollars. This issue has to be addressed on many fronts. I really want more details on this story.
