A human trafficking case has rocked the town of Bessemer, Ala. Last week, a 13-year-old girl managed to escape after being kidnapped and held captive for 3 days. During that time she was raped and sodomized for three days by at least five men, Al.com reported.
According to Bessemer police, the girl didn’t know her abductors and was ‘passed around’ by the five men in a variety of locations between July 26 and 28.
So far, authorities have charged the three adult men and the two juveniles. The juveniles’ names are not being released because of their ages. They could end up being charged as adults, Hunter said.
The adults charged are Derion Jeff Shumpert, Khalil Lamontray Bradley and Sammy Cooper Jr. All three are 19, and have ties to Bessemer. Cooper is charged with first-degree sodomy and remains in the Jefferson County Jail with bond set at $500,000, jail records show.
Shumpert is charged with second-degree rape. He was arrested July 28 and released from the Jefferson County Jail the following day on $25,000 bond, court records show.
