For this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, Beyoncé just might do something that leaves everyone way more shocked than her 2011 pregnancy reveal. Reportedly, Queen Bey will address the rampant divorce rumors during Sunday’s show. No word on whether she’ll hit us with another barrage of happily ever after Instagram family photos, or if she’ll give the split rumors the “Flawless” treatment by briefly alluding to them in a song, but apparently whatever she has up her sleeve will come to light during her performance.
A source told HollywoodLife that Beyoncé plans to use the stage as her platform to show everyone that she hasn’t turned a deaf ear to the critics who are convinced that her marriage to Jay Z is on life support.
“Beyonce wants to tackle the rumors in the best way she knows how, on stage. During her performance, she is looking to do something to hopefully silence all the haters and the critics but, in true entertainment fashion, to make even more questions come out of it. She wants to make a statement that people will be talking about for a very long time.”
Although releasing a press release to address the elevator incident wasn’t in line with typical Beyoncé behavior, announcing her divorce during a performance seems seriously far-fetched. Could this be the first clue that all the talk of divorce is just talk? Speculation aside, what we can expect is for Beyoncé to do what she does best—command everyone’s undivided attention, ramp up even more conspiracy theories and in the end, leave us with more questions than answers.
