According to Black Twitter, this week is Durag History Week. The hashtag, #duraghistoryweek, has been trending worldwide. Many, including Karen Civil, took to Twitter to share their celebratory tweets for Durag History Week.
For those of you unaware of what a durag (\ˈdü-ˌrag\) is, it is a piece of cloth used to cover the top of one’s head. This cloth is used to maintain one’s hair overnight. Made of nylon, it is also referred to as a wavecap.
While some individuals are uploading images to Twitter that show other cultures sporting a durag, other individuals have found African-American legends rocking the nylon head piece such as entertainer and founding member of the Rat Pack Sammy Davis Jr.
