Tyler Perry has struck gold with his newest OWN original series, “If Loving You is Wrong”.
This week’s premiere made it the network’s most watched series premiere honor with 1.93 million viewers.
According to a press release the premiere episode delivered a “1.47 rating” in the key W25-54 (women, 25 to 54-years-old) demo, which pushed it past last year’s debut of “Haves and Have Nots” at 1.77 million viewers. The drama series follows the lives of a group of friends who are navigating their way though romance to heartbreak.
Last year, Perry spoke to ESSENCE magazine about how he and Oprah Winfrey manage to strike a balance between their friendship and business.
“The most important thing about coming together was making sure we would not lose our friendship because of the business,” he admitted. “We had to establish ground rules. The main one: Both of us have to continue to live in our truth. If she doesn’t like something, say it. If I don’t like something, I’ll say it. And we’ll figure it out and keep moving on…”
Clutchettes, did you tune into the series? If so, what did you think of it?
