Kelly Rowland is yet again trying her hand at acting on one of the most highly anticipated follow-up seasons coming to television this fall.
Over the weekend, it was confirmed that the Destiny’s Child singer will grace the small screen in a few episodes of the upcoming season 2 of “Empire.” Kelly will appear in flashback scenes as the mother of Terrence Howard’s character Lucious Lyon. A source reportedly confirmed Kelly’s role on the show to E! News this weekend in New Orleans during the 2015 Essence Festival festivities, where she was spotted hanging with the likes of Erykah Badu, Trey Songz, Solange, and of course, band mate Beyoncé.
Fans have gotten glimpses of Mrs. Rowland as an actress before in films like Think Like A Man, Freddy vs. Jason and The Seat Filler, while she’s also made a splash in the television arena with guests appearances on shows like VH1’s “Single Ladies.”
Season 2 of Empire will begin on September 23, where Kelly joins a long list of celebrities slated to appear on the show including Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Chris Rock.
