Hollywood director/producer Lee Daniels is cooking up yet another tv show for Fox and it sounds like another hit.

Fox made the announcement on Thursday at the 2015 Television Critics Association press tour and based on details available so far, the show will reportedly be a scripted drama series chronicling the journey of three young women from Atlanta who form an aspiring girl group. According to E! News, the series will be titled Star and will showcase the highs and lows of the “cut-throat” music industry. As with most of Lee Daniels’ projects that have done well, the series will also factor in cultural dynamics to give audiences a unique perspective on what artists experience as they navigate their way to stardom and follow their dreams.

Rumors that Star will be a spinoff of Empire already began but FOX CEO Dana Walden offered some clarity on the speculation.

“The possibility of a crossover at some point exists but it’s definitely not what we’re planning right now. It is modern-day music business in Atlanta and Empire is modern-day music business in New York…it’s not inconceivable that the two worlds could cross. But that’s definitely not Lee’s intention as we go into it.”

Daniels himself confirmed that the series was indeed in the works and that he will soon be in the casting stages with an Instagram post shared earlier this week.

I’ll be looking for some girls that can sing and act soon. ????????????????#fox
