It’s been ten years since we dropped in on Calvin’s Barbershop on the South Side of Chicago, but a lot has changed in the past decade.
While the usual cast of outsized characters are still around, there are a few new additions to the fam.
The last time we visited Calvin’s, played by Ice Cube, he was in a fight to save his shop from the competition. This time, however, he’s up against a new foe: gangs.
Peep the synopsis:
Calvin and his longtime crew, including Eddie (Cedric the Entertainer), are still there, but the shop has undergone some major changes. Most noticeably, our once male-dominated sanctuary is now co-ed. The ladies bring their own flavor, drama and gossip to the shop challenging the fellas at every turn. Despite the good times and camaraderie within the shop, the surrounding community has taken a turn for the worse, forcing Calvin and our crew to come together to not only save the shop, but their neighborhood.
Written by Black-ish’s Kenya Barris and directed by the Best Man Holiday’s Malcolm Lee, Barbershop: the Next Cut stars Regina Hall, Common, Sean Patrick Thomas, Eve, Anthony Anderson, Jaszmine Lewis, JB Smoove, and Nicki Minaj.
It hits theaters in April 15, 2016. Will you be there?
