Christian daycare employees in Katy, TX., were fired after refusing to call a transgender 6-year-old by his male name.
Madeline Kirksey and Akesha Bogany Wyatt were employed at the Children’s Lighthouse Learning Center in Katy, Texas, and the student in question started the school as a girl.
Kirksey’s lawyer, Adam Taylor, says the students parents – a gay male couple- brought the student in as a girl on a Friday and a boy on a Monday even though the student was a girl for 4 months prior. Taylor also said they cut the student’s hair and gave him a masculine name.
Although the school gave out pamphlets on how to deal with transgender children, and to call the child by his new name, the teachers refused.
In an interview with Fox News, Kirksey, who is a Christian blogger, said she didn’t feel comfortable with the idea.
“I don’t think we should be talking to other people’s children who are under the age of 18 about being transgender,” Kirksey stated.
Kirksey’s lawyer said they are now planning to sue and will file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
“Madeline’s rights have been violated. Literally she was sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. It is not just Madeline and it is not just this school that we are concerned about. We need to send a strong message that Christians need to push back on this agenda. This school is in seven different states, 37 different locations, it is broader than [this case], nationwide we need to accommodate everybody,” Taylor said.
Clutchettes, do you think she should have used the child’s male name?
