After inviting Kendrick Lamar to the White House, President Obama asked the Compton rapper one question: “Can you believe that we’re both sitting in this Oval Office?”
The two men seem like an unlikely pair, but apparently, the president is a huge fan of Lamar’s music. Last December, President Obama admitted that his favorite song of 2015 was Lamar’s “How Much a Dollar Cost,” an unconventional choice that proved the president was more than just an occasional listener.
Apparently, the feeling is mutual. According to President Obama’s senior advisor Valerie Jarrett, Lamar was super nervous when he met the president.
“He was a little nervous — bless his heart,” she told Buzzfeed. “He’s really a very nice young man.”
In addition to swapping favorite lyrics (we hope), President Obama and Kendrick Lamar talked about improving the lives of young people and the importance of mentorship.
We’re going to miss B-Rock when he leaves office!
