Lianne La Havas is supposedly the next ‘it’ singer when it comes to soul music, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be held accountable for your actions on Twitter.
During this week’s Brit Awards, many started using the hashtag #BritsSoWhite, because of the lack of diversity in the people nominated. But La Havas actually thought it was racist. Coincidentally, La Havas was snubbed in the award show. Her most recent album, Blood was not nominated and neither was she.

And there’s that..just because someone is black doesn’t mean they’re exactly ‘woke’. People definitely took issue with her comments:

The most disappointing part of Lianne La Havas' comments on #BritsSoWhite was that it was created to advocate for artists like her.

How did La Havas deal with the backlash? She went to go visit her grandmother:
Gonna go see my grandma who doesn't give a sh*t about any stupid bollox. She just wants to be warm and comfy and wants me not to swear.

Who probably would have been proud of her granddaughter’s nomination, but since she didn’t get one….
