While Issa Rae works on Insecure, her highly-anticipated HBO show, she’s still grinding it out on YouTube and using her platform to introduce filmmakers of color.
Over the weekend, Rae kicked off a new monthly series on her YouTube channel called #ShortFilmSunday, which aims to give emerging talent a shot.
The inaugural short, Ladylike, written by Tiffany Johnson and Nicholas Williams, is a gorgeous film about two badass friends.
Here’s how the pair describe the project:
LADYLIKE is a modern day noir that follows Vaughan and Harlan, two vintage vixens who have a penchant for retro… and retribution. Not only are they bosom buddies, Vaughan and Harlan’s disturbing pastime makes them a gruesome twosome.
Nia Jervier and Courtney Sauls star in the magnificent short, and you’ll definitely want to keep watching Ladylike until the end.
Take a look.
