Zendaya will be playing Spider-Man’s love interest, Mary Jane Watson, in Sony’s upcoming reboot of the superhero franchise. The 19-year-old is set to star opposite of Tom Holland in next summer’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to The Wrap.
The Disney star was announced to join the cast in March. However, her exact role in the Marvel flick was not revealed at the time.
Previously, Kirsten Dunst played the part of MJ in the film franchise, with Tobey Maguire. Shailene Woodley later took on the role for the reboot starring Andrew Garfield, though her scenes were eventually left on the cutting room floor.
The movie will also star Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover and Robert Downey Jr. The new film will focus on a young Peter Parker as he balances high school and crime-fighting.
