Kate Upton took to Twitter to share her disappointment in the NFL players who kneeled during the National Anthem on the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Several member of the Miami Dolphins knelt during their season opener on Sunday afternoon and shortly afterwards, Upton tweeted her feelings.
“This is unacceptable,” she wrote via Twitter. “You should be proud to be an American. Especially on 9/11 when we should support each other.”
“Protest&speak ur mind whenever u want,” she continued, “but during the 120secs you should support the people who protect our freedom.”
The justifiable backlash commenced with many expressing their disbelief and disagreement with Upton, reminding her that if she isn’t going to be vocal about the oppression, then she ought not to express any personal opinions on the resistance.
Kate Upton. From one white girl to another, if you’re not gonna speak about the oppression then don’t speak about the resistance.

Just wondering if she sent support tweets when unarmed black men were killed. Just asking. https://t.co/zbBt0cV7DC

@KateUpton You’re a white, blonde hair, blue-eyed white woman, so you don’t get to tell black ppl how to protest their own oppression.
