The #MannequinChallenge is the internet’s newest viral sensation. What started out with high school students having fun with poses, has now escalated to celebrities and athletes posing to music. Even Hillary Clinton got in on it the day before the election.
But actress Simone Shepherd posted a video that proves that viral doesn’t have to be all fun and games. In a 60 second video, the #MannequinChallenge got the #BlackLivesMatter treatment. With actors dressed as cops, and black car passengers, there isn’t music playing the background, but the audio from this year’s police stops that ended in the deaths of black people.
From Sandra Bland to Philando Castile, the audio, mixed with the reenactments are harrowing and poignant.
