Marvel has decided to cancel #BlackLivesMatter inspired comic series because of its poor sales. Black Panther and The Crew, was a spinoff of award-winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates’ successful Black Panther comic.
Coates, a Black Panther & The Crew series co-writer, announced Friday that the series would be coming to an end after six issues because it wasn’t selling well, reports The Verge.
Black Panther and the Crew followed Black Panther, Misty Knight, Luke Cage, Storm, and former Avenger Manifold around Harlem investigating police violence. As well as Ezra Keith, a civil rights activist who dies while in police custody. The case has many similarities to real-life Black Americans who have died in police custody, such as Freddie Gray, Jordan Edwards and Sandra Bland.
