I am unapologetic to what I said to Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels — Mo’Nique
Last week, a viral video of Mo’Nique calling out Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry and Oprah hit the Internet. In the video, Mo’Nique addressed the rumors that she had been blackballed in Hollywood and her falling out with Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey.
This past weekend, Mo’Nique and her husband Sidney Hicks decided to do a Periscope, where they discussed the details of the fallout in full.
Mo’Nique explained before Precious was released, that she and Oprah were friends. Claiming that they shared very personal family details and talked openly about both being sexually assaulted by family members.
“I shared with Oprah Winfrey that me and my mother were not on good terms. I said to that sister, ‘Right now I’m really going through it, it’s really bad.’… Had Oprah said to me, ‘I have your mother.’ I would have shut that s–t down. Because I don’t want the world seeing my mother, being so greedy over money, that she’s willing to do anything to go on your show.”
Mo’Nique claimed that she received a call from Oprah asking her for her approval to allow her brother be a guest on The Oprah Show to discuss the molestation claims. Oprah then asked Mo’Nique to appear as well. Mo’Nique declined.
“I got a phone call from your brother, the brother that molested you, Gerald. He wants to know if he can come on the show. And before I agree to him coming on the show, I need to call you up to get your approval.”
After declining, she later found out that not only was her brother going to be on the show, but her parents as well. Mo’Nique said she would have never approved if she knew that her mother was going to appear on the show.
Mo’Nique revealed that she was shocked when she finally saw the show. And after it aired, Oprah called Mo’Nique, but she didn’t fully express to Oprah how she really felt about her parent’s appearance.
In a another conversation with Oprah, Mo’Nique brought up the issue about her parents being on the show again and Oprah said, “I did not know that your parents were going to be there. Let me check into it, and I’ll get back to y’all.” Oprah never called back.
In a recent IG video, Mo’Nique shared Tyler Perry reached out after seeing her podcast online — but claimed Perry threw his “billionaire” status around, coming off insincere.
“See, when he called us up and tried to be the billionaire I said ‘N***a, put Madea on the phone, let me speak to that real b**ch because you f**king this up right now, and to that n***a’s credit he got Madea on the motherf**king phone!”
