During his charity show at The Whiting Auditorium in Flint, Dave Chappelle announced a donation of $50,000 to The Community Foundation of Greater Flint. The comedian’s donation will help children who were exposed to lead-ridden water due to the Flint water crisis.
Chappelle was originally scheduled to perform at a Flint benefit concert last year, but cancelled due to a last-minute invite from Chris Rock to go to the Oscars. Chappelle apologized for skipping out on the Flint 2016 benefit event before offering his donation.
“I’m honored that you guys came here tonight,” he said to the audience. “I want you to know that just by coming to see me you supported this city. I’m not taking a dime.”
